The town of Stara Zagora lies in the Tracian Valley in the central part of Southern Bulgaria. It contributes actively to the dynamics and development not only of the region, but also of the country, and is well-known for its economy, transport and communications, regional government, science, culture, commerce, healthcare and other public sectors.
Stara Zagora is home to Trakia University – an autonomous state institution, established in 1995 with a Governmental Decree by the 37th National Assembly.
The university offers courses in the following educational-qualification degrees: Vocational Bachelor, Bachelor, Master, and PhD.
Students are trained in university facilities with modern halls and laboratories. Students are also offered traineeships in their respective fields. Trakia University is actively seeking to expand its international network of partner institutions. Students can benefit from EU and international exchange programmes, such as Erasmus + and EEA Grants.
Over 9 000 students – local and foreign – are currently enrolled in university courses. All professional fields and specialties have been accredited.
The Faculty of Economics, as a separate unit within the university structure, complies with the national and EU standards and priorities for academic development. The Faculty offers thorough professional training of students at undergraduate and graduate level in the fields of economics, business, regional development, innovations, entrepreneurship, management, etc.
The Faculty of Economics has established long-lasting cooperative partnerships in scientific research with foreign universities, such as the Technical University of Munich, Germany, the University of Natural Sciences in Prague, Czech Republic, the Institute for Agrarian Economy – Belgrade, Serbia, etc.
